( www.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca ; 675 Belleville St; adult/child from $16/10; 10am-5pm Sun-Wed, to
10pm Thu-Sat) Start in the natural-history gallery on your visit to the province's best mu-
seum. Fronted by a beady-eyed woolly mammoth and lined with evocative dioramas -
the elk peeking through trees is a favorite - next head up to the First Peoples exhibit with
its fascinating mask gallery (look for a ferret-faced white man). But the highlight is the
walk-through colonial street with its chatty Chinatown and detailed storefronts.
The museum hosts regular special exhibitions and also has a popular IMAX theater
screening documentaries and Hollywood blockbusters.
