Broadway-City Hall) Vancouver's fave taco spot expanded from its tiny Hastings St location
(which is still there) with this much larger storefront. It's just as crowded but, luckily,
many of the visitors are going the take-out route. Snag a brightly painted table, then or-
der at the counter from a dozen or so meat or veggie soft tacos (take your pick or ask for
a selection), washed down with a cheap-ass beer. Service is warm and friendly here and
the prices and quality ingredients are enough to keep you coming back: the tacos are
$2.50 each or four for $9.50 (or just $7 if you take the vegetarian option).

5-10pm Mon-Sat; ; 4) At this contemporary reinvention of the Thai-restaurant model,
subtle and complex traditional and international influences flavor the menu, which in-
vites exploration. You can start with the familiar (although even the pad Thai here is eye-
poppingly different), but save room for something new: the geng pa neua beef curry is a
sweet, salty and nutty treat.

ville St, this Vancouver favorite is the high-water mark of contemporary East Indian
cuisine, fusing regional ingredients, subtle global flourishes and classic ethnic flavors to
produce an array of innovative dishes. The unique results range from signature wine-
marinated 'lamb popsicles' to savor-worthy meals like halibut, mussels and crab in a
tomato-ginger curry. Reservations not accepted, which sometimes means a very long
wait.
Drinking & Nightlife
Granville St, from Robson to Davie Sts, is a party district of mainstream haunts, but
Gastown's brick-lined bars are far superior.
