) This atmospheric hotel, in the hamlet of Diamond, is decorated with antiques and of-
fers eight lovely rooms with quilt bedspreads. Both new and older rooms are available,
and some share baths. Continental breakfast is included, with other meals available to
guests and visitors alike (reservations required for dinner).
Narrows RV Park CAMPGROUND$

$26-28; ) At the junction of Hwy 205 and Sodhouse Lane, 28 miles south of Burns,
this cheery RV park offers campers a desert refuge. There's a restaurant, 'saloon,'
convenience store, espresso shop and gas. You can even stay in a yurt ($38; reserve in
advance).
Malheur Field Station HOSTEL, TRAILER PARK$

trailer d $70-90; May-Sep; ) About 4.5 miles west of the Refuge Headquarters,
on a gravel side road, this collection of rustic buildings offers RV hookups, simple dorm-
itories, kitchenette trailers and no-nonsense meals. Bring your own bedding, a towel, toi-
letries and a flashlight - lights out at 10pm for star-gazing! It's best for those who like to
be out in nature, without many amenities. Reserve way ahead (especially for meals) as
staffing is limited; educational courses and bird-guiding available.

Sodhouse Lane; 8am-4pm, limited hours outside summer) Six miles east of Hwy 205, this
center on Sodhouse Lane has information, maps, a little museum and good bird-watching
for songbirds.
