Connecting Elgin with Joseph, the train runs for 38 miles (round-trip), mostly on
Saturday from June to October. The 3½-hour trip costs $75 for adults, less for
seniors and kids. And every once in a while, the train gets 'robbed' - with play
money handed over - or a historian or wildlife biologist makes a special appear-
ance. But even if you just experience the train ride by itself, it's sure to be memor-

Enterprise
POP 2000
Enterprise is a small, friendly place that's less expensive and upscale than its nearby sis-
ter town of Joseph, just 6 miles away. However, it shares with Joseph an attraction for
artists, as well as an exceptional location surrounded by grassy meadows, pine forests
and the stunning Wallowa Mountains. Some of Enterprise's original buildings are still in-
tact and there's a good selection of traveler's services, making it an ideal base for explor-
ing northeastern Oregon - such as Hells Canyon and, of course, the Wallowas.
