CATCHING A BREEZE ON FLORAS LAKE
Unassuming Langlois, 14 miles south of Bandon, is the closest town to Floras Lake,
a covert windsurfing , kitesurfing and kayaking destination. Only a thin sand spit
separates this shallow springwater lake from the ocean. Summer is the peak sea-
son, though winter storms also attract adventurers. To reach the lake, head 1 mile
south of Langlois on US 101, turn west onto Floras Lake Rd and follow the signs for
2.7 miles.
There are campsites (tent/RV sites $12/16) at the lake with showers available but no
RV hookups. For more comfort, check into the lovely four-room Floras Lake
House B&B (
541-348-2573; www.floraslake.com ; 92870 Boice Cope Rd; d $160-180;
