LINCOLN CITY MUST-DOS
Shirley Brey (of Brey House B&B) has some tips on what not to miss in Lincoln
City:
» Cascade Head - Great for hiking.
» The Beach - You can walk for miles in either direction, and also go horseback rid-
ing.
» Marionberry Cobbler - Every other restaurant seems to offer it, and it's good
everywhere!
Festivals & Events
Kite Festivals KITE FLYING
( Jun & Oct) The self-proclaimed 'Kite Capital of the World,' Lincoln City hosts two
kite festivals each year. Enormous kites - some over 100ft in length - take off to twist
and dive in the ocean breezes.
Siletz Bay Sandcastle Contest SANDCASTLES
( early Aug) Have a fun time checking out amazing sand sculptures at this competition
- or even participate yourself!
Sleeping
There are many hotels and motels on or near Lincoln City's main drag, and endless vaca-
tion rentals available online.
Historic Anchor Inn INN$
( 541-996-3810; www.historicanchorinn.com ; 4417 SW US 101; d $79-89; ) This is like no
place you've ever stayed. It's super quirky and funky - in a good way - from the float
collection and full-size boat in the front to the museum-like kitschy decor in the hall-
ways. The breakfast room is worth the price of admission alone. Kitchen, game room,
sundeck, backyard and free popcorn are pluses.
