with this, their latest hotel venue, located in Gearhart (3 miles north of Seaside). All 18
comfortable, wood-paneled rooms have private bathroom, and are decorated with the
quirky art that has made the McMenamin brand famous. Below is a restaurant-bar with
awesome outdoor patio that looks over golf links.
Sandy Cove Inn BOUTIQUE MOTEL$$$

run motel has 18 boutique rooms; all are different and tastefully decorated with fun
themes and antiques. Jacuzzi suites, two houses and a condo are also available (sleeping
up to 12). It's at the north end of town, three blocks from the beach.
Beachside Inn MOTEL$$$
( 800-845-1284; www.beachsideinnseaside.com ; 300 5th Ave; d $105-175; ) Just a couple of
blocks from the beach and close to downtown Seaside is this handful of cute rooms and
multi-bedroom units, all tastefully furnished with soft pastels and pleasant decor. Most
have a small kitchen, while others have just a microwave, coffeemaker and fridge - but
all are comfortable and clean.
Hillcrest Inn HOTEL$$$
( 503-738-6273; www.seasidehillcrest.com ; 118 N Columbia; d $120; ) This Cape
Cod-style inn offers a wide variety of simple but comfortable rooms and suites, some
with kitchenette, jetted tubs and partial ocean views (rooms 123 and 129 are especially
good). They sleep up to six. There's a nice grassy common area, and the beach is a block
away. It's great value; reserve way ahead for the really budget rooms ($40 and $72).
Gilbert Inn INN$$$
( 503-738-9770; www.gilbertinn.com ; 341 Beach Dr; d $119-159; ) This 1892 Queen Anne
house is located in a neighborhood of apartments, but it's just a block from the beach.
The nine guest rooms, all carpeted and decorated in traditional style, have private bath-
rooms; the attic room is huge. Children over 18 only; minimal breakfast.
