Getting Around
Car The USA and Canada are very car-oriented societies. Getting around this region is
much, much easier with a private vehicle, and car rentals (and gasoline) are affordable. In
larger cities, car-share programs are available.
Public transportation Buses, trains and ferries have networks in the region, though ser-
vices can be limited.
Bicycle Within the big cities of Seattle, Portland and Vancouver, BC, bicycling is a com-
mon method of transport. These are very bike-friendly places, with many bike lanes and
bike paths. Drivers also have a general awareness of sharing the road with cyclists.
See transport for much more.
