There's some sort of festival in Portland nearly every summer weekend; even each

Portland International Film Festival FILM
( www.nwfilm.org ; mid-late Feb) Oregon's biggest film event highlights almost 100 films
from over 30 countries, screened in several movie houses downtown.
Portland Rose Festival ROSE FESTIVAL
( www.rosefestival.org ; late May-mid-Jun) Rose-covered floats, dragon-boat races, a river-
front carnival, fireworks, roaming packs of sailors and the crowning of a Rose Queen all
make this Portland's biggest celebration.
Queer Pride Celebration GAY & LESBIAN
( www.pridenw.org ; mid-Jun) Keep Portland queer: enjoy a kick-off party, take a cruise or
join the parade along with Dykes on Bikes.
Oregon Brewers Festival BEER
( www.oregonbrewfest.com ; Jul) In the last full weekend in July you can quaff micro-
brews from near and far in Waterfront Park - everyone's happy and even nondrinkers
have fun. Plenty of food stalls.
Waterfront Blues Festival BLUES FESTIVAL
( www.waterfrontbluesfest.com ; early Jul) Enjoy top blues acts, music and partying at
Waterfront Park; proceeds go to the Oregon Food Bank.
Bite of Oregon FOOD
( www.biteoforegon.com ; early Aug) All the food (and beer) you could think of consum-
ing, much of it from great local restaurants - and some of it from Portland's now-famous
food carts. Good microbrews too. The festival benefits Special Olympics Oregon.
Art in the Pearl ART
( www.artinthepearl.com ; 1st Mon in Sep & weekend prior) On Labor Day weekend, over 100
carefully selected artists come together to show and sell their fine works. Plenty of food
and live music.
