Pedalpalooza CYCLING FESTIVAL
( www.pedalpalooza.org ) Three-week celebration in June of the city's uniquely creative bike
culture, including the world's largest naked bike ride.
Sunday Parkways CYCLING EVENT
( www.portlandsundayparkways.org ) A few Sundays a year, Portland closes off certain streets
to motor vehicles so cyclists (especially families) can ride without worrying about cars.
Food, entertainment and bike-themed booths too.
On the Water
Summer in Portland means finding cool things to do in the heat, and fortunately there are
a few.
On hot days, visit the Salmon Street Springs Fountain or the Jamison Square Foun-
tain MAP GOOGLE MAP (810 NW 11th Ave) , both of which attract splashing kids as the
mercury rises.
Matt Dishman Community Center SWIMMING

grab their suits and beeline to the indoor pool here; it's just north of the Lloyd District.

US Grant Park SWIMMING

North Clackamas Aquatic Park AQUATIC PARK

under 3yr free) About 10 miles south of downtown Portland are these water slides and in-
door wave pool. There's also a climbing wall (extra cost), along with adults-only hot tub.
Hours vary widely, so call ahead.

City, about a half-hour drive from downtown Portland, is this outfitter that offers kayak
rentals, instruction and tours, plus stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) on the Willamette.
