Downtown Portland is an urban success story. An activist city government began work in
the 1970s to ensure that Portland's business and nightlife did not flee the city center, and
downtown Portland remains a vibrant destination both day and night.
But with success comes certain problems - like parking. You may get lucky and find a
metered street space, but there also are six SmartPark parking buildings that charge
$1.60 per hour (similar to the price of metered parking). Check
