Ohme Gardens GARDENS

north of town on Alt US 97, the Ohme showcases the mighty Columbia River at its best,
with 9 acres of terraced alpine gardens emerging like an oasis from the barren rock.
Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center MUSEUM

Welcome to another good municipal museum, which places its main focus on - surprise,
surprise - apples. Exhibits include a recreation of a 1920s apple-packing shed and a farm
shop from the 1890s. Look out for memorabilia on local hero Clyde Pangborn, the first
man to fly nonstop across the Pacific in 1931.

capital is also home to this little-visited yet surprisingly interesting exposé on gala, fuji,
golden delicious et al. Find out how apples are grown, harvested, transported and sold
via a number of interpretive displays and an enlightening 20-minute video.

Mission Ridge SKIING

early Apr) Downhill skiers covet the dry powder covering the slopes of Mission Ridge,
located 12 miles southwest of Wenatchee. The resort features a vertical drop of 2200ft
and 35 runs with four lifts and two rope-tows.
Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail WALKING, CYCLING
Wenatchee's interurban trail is a 10-mile walk- and bikeway that starts and finishes
in Riverfront Park MAP GOOGLE MAP and stretches along both sides of the Columbia
River via some orchards, adjacent to downtown. Access to the park can be gained at the
end of 5th St or by crossing a railway footbridge at the end of 1st St.
