Sleeping & Eating
A variety of condos are available at the mountain base from Crystal Mountain Lodging
( www.crystalmountainlodging.com ; condos $200-275) . Aside from the resort eating options,
there are a couple of restaurants on the mountain itself.
Alpine Inn HOTEL$$$
( 360-663-2262; www.crystalhotels.com ; r $85-190; ) Run by Crystal Mountain Hotels,
this Bavarian-style inn looks as if it's been dragged across from kitschy Leavenworth on
the other side of the Wenatchee National Forest. Cozy, comfortable and playing deftly on
its European image, the inn boasts restaurant, rathskeller, deli, bar and ski-snowboard
shop.
Alta Crystal Resort SUITES$$$

is popular year-round thanks to its proximity to the ski resort (winter) and Mt Rainier Na-
tional Park's Sunrise Lodge Cafeteria and trailheads (summer). It's one of the area's
plushest accommodations (though it's technically outside the park). Encased in 22
wooded acres and bisected by Deep Creek, it consists of 24 suites surrounding a pool and
Jacuzzi.
One-bedroom suites sleep up to four and loft suites accommodate up to six. All have
kitchenettes and wood stoves or fireplaces.
Getting There & Away
On weekends and holidays from December to March a shuttle bus (

www.crystalsnowbus.com ; round-trip $35) transports skiers to/from Seattle.
