(W 8th St, cnr Columbia St; 10am-6pm Tue-Sun) One of the best and cheapest places to eat
in Vancouver is at this daily indoor-outdoor farmers market in Esther Short Park. Inside
you'll find German deli sandwiches, tasty pastries and excellent pad Thai noodles for as
little as $5.

An ebullient place right on the river, Beaches gets points for its atmosphere, happy hour
and cheery service. The food is well-prepared American fare (pizzas, steak, fish and
chips) with some nice surprises (steamed clams). Add it all up and it's worth a detour
from Portland.

verandah of this lovely heritage building. Check the website for live music throughout
the weekend and supper-club set menus every third Thursday of the month. While there,
ask the staff to show you the exposed logs of the original log-cabin structure. Gluten-free
menu available.

Getting There & Away
BUS
Three Greyhound buses a day stop in Vancouver on their way between Portland and
Seattle.
TRAIN
