Everything you could want in a historic national park lodge and more, the suspended-in-
time 'Quinault' has a massive fireplace, peek-a-boo lake views, a manicured cricket-
pitch-quality lawn, huge, comfy leather sofas, a regal reception area and a dignified lake-
view (in daylight hours at least) restaurant serving upscale American cuisine. Trails into
primeval forest leave from just outside the door.
In all it's a more posh and cozy version of the holiday lodge featured in Dirty Dan-
cing . Built in 1926, the Quinault's warmth and character are no secret and reservations
are recommended. Rates drop by about 40% in low season.
Information
Olympic National Park Visitor Center (3002 Mt Angeles Rd, Port Angeles; 9am-5pm) is
about a mile south of Port Angeles and is the park's most comprehensive information
