Clallam County Museum MUSEUM
(cnr 1st & Oak Sts; 8:30am-4pm Mon-Fri, closed holidays) Housed in the 1927 Feder-
al Building, the museum retells the story of the community's growth. Two-hour Heritage
Tours ( www.portangelesheritagetours.com ; adult/child $12/6) run twice daily Monday to
Saturday at 10am and 2.30pm (10.30am and 2pm in winter). The tours include the town's
'lost' underground, buried when the downtown area was raised in the early 1900s.
Port Angeles Fine Arts Center GALLERY
(1203 E Lauridsen St; 11am-5pm Tue-Sun) Here you'll find the work of many of the
professional artists who live on the peninsula. The gallery is high above the city amid a
5-acre sculpture garden with views over the strait.
Olympic Discovery Trail HIKING, CYCLING
( www.olympicdiscoverytrail.com ) The trail is an ongoing project that ultimately aims to
link Port Townsend and Forks by means of an off-road hiking-biking trail. Fifty-three
miles of the trail is already complete between Port Angeles and Sequim, starting at the
end of Ediz Hook , the sand spit that loops around the bay before cutting east along the
waterfront. You can pick up the trail at the base of the City Pier, site of the Feiro Marine
Life Center (adult/child $2.50/1; 10am-6pm Tue-Sun Jun-Sep, noon-4pm Sat & Sun Oct-May;
) , where hands-on touch tanks are inhabited by the aquatic denizens of the strait.
