In-Depth Information
For maximum enjoyment, bring binoculars and a jacket - maybe even a picnic to enjoy
at the top (but leave alcohol and glass bottles at home).
Scenic Drive
Popular at night for viewing city lights, Scenic Dr offers great views of El Paso, Juárez
and the surrounding mountains. To get there, take N Mesa St to Kerbey Ave (across from
the university), head east till Kerbey becomes Rim Rd, then turn right on Scenic Dr. En
route, keep an eye out for little Murchison Park - at 4222ft, it's a fine spot for sunrises.
SCENIC DRIVE
Crazy Cat Cyclery
MAP
( 915-772-9666; 6625 Montana Ave; overnight rental $40; 10am-8pm Mon-Sat, to 6pm Sun) The best
source of local cycling information and equipment. Some of the city's best mountain bik-
ing is five minutes away, and they'll point you in the right direction and sell you a map if
you'd like one. They also offer scheduled group rides led by enthusiastic cyclists.
BIKE RENTAL
Rio Bosque Wetlands Park
( 915-747-8663; Ave of the Americas at Pan American Dr; dawn-dusk) This park offers walking
tours several times a month. A network of natural surface trails weave through the wet-
lands, and a fully paved loop trail is in the works. It is really hard to find, so call to get
directions, but it's worth the adventure because of the bird life available.
