Condo Agents
More than 4000 apartments are available for rent on SPI. They can be ugly - notable ex-
amples being the Saida Towers and the thoroughly god-awful Bridgepoint - or nice. They
come with one, two or three bedrooms and always have kitchens. Most of the larger com-
plexes have pools and other facilities such as tennis courts and whirlpools.
Often just off the beach, you can rent part of a house or cottage that may not have the
ocean view but will have plenty of beach-town charm.
Rates run the gamut. Some places offer daily rentals; others require a week minimum.
For the peak summer season, reservations are recommended three months in advance.
During the winter, you can often bargain for substantial discounts.
The website www.vrbo.com is a good source of interesting properties being rented by
their owners. The CVB ( Click here ) has links to rental agents.

Eating
Except for the peak periods, South Padre Island closes early so unless noted otherwise,
plan on dining by 9pm. Condo dwellers will find plenty of markets for all those essential
foods you'd never eat at home.
Farmers Market
(8605 Padre Blvd; 11am-1pm Sun Mar-Nov) Check out the size of the grapefruits and give other
local produce a squeeze at this market held at the Shores condominium resort.
