There are more motel/condo rooms in Port A than there are permanent residents, so there
are plenty of options and something to meet most budgets. Not surprisingly, summer
weekends are when rooms are at their dearest; book in advance. Lots of options let you
wander the walkable part of Port A; avoid the unsightly large condo developments south
of town.
You can camp at both IB Magee Beach Park ( Click here ) and Mustang Island State Park
( Click here ) . At the former, primitive beach camping is $12 per night while a tent site with
utilities costs $25.
Port A has scores of locally owned motels that are filled with character, if not charac-
ters. All the ones listed here are close to nightlife. Rates often drop in low season.
Amelia's Landing

in the Top Gun room, blast off in the Apollo room etc). All are loaded with amenities
(fridges, DVDs, microwaves) and some have kitchens. It books up early in high season.
