Turning Basin Tours

hear plenty of local lore on the narrated, hour-long flat-bottom boat rides on Big Cypress
Bayou. The launch point is just across Polk St bridge from downtown. Call for varying
departure times, and for the required reservations.

Historic Jefferson Ghost Walk

Learn about the town's tragedies and legends as you walk in and among the old buildings.
Ghost tours last about an hour and a half, departing from the vacant lot next to the Atlanta
rail car.
Historic Jefferson Railway

Jun-Aug; ) Summer weekends, take a narrated open-air train-car ride during the day, or a
ghost tour at night. Theme trains (Great Train Robbery, Halloween, Christmas) operate
other weekends during the year.

Throughout the year, Jefferson holds numerous events - Railroad Days, Old West plays,
car shows, Christmas-time tours, etc. Log into the visitor center website for more.
Pilgrimage Tour of Homes
( www.jeffersonpilgrimage.com ; adults/children $20/3; May) One weekend in May the influential loc-
al garden club hosts a home tour of historic properties. It's the event of the year, with ac-
companying balls, plays and a parade.

Far more B&Bs operate locally than we could list, everything from one-room cabins to
Victorian mansions. The visitor center posts them all online. Note that the town's active
train tracks run near everything - woo-woo !
