Shopping
For many, wandering and window shopping are the main attractions in Brenham. Start on
Alamo St near the courthouse, where there are singular specialty clothing, gift and home-
ware stores. Antiques also abound, though prices can be high.
American Man Cave
(214 E Alamo St; 10am-6pm) Need an old Harley Davidson, a stoplight or a Pachinko ma-
chine in your rec room? You've come to the right place; this is a guy's guy antique store,
offering complimentary beer or coffee while you shop.

SCENIC DRIVE: EAST CENTRAL TEXAS
Brenham and Round Top may be the most well-known destinations in east central Texas, but don't stop there.
Washington County, and Fayette and Austin counties to the south, are riddled with small town attractions and
scenic vistas. Get a good map and take to the rural roads. You might happen upon a ranch restaurant and B&B in
Cat Spring, a Friday night shindig at the Chicken Ranch Hall in Nechanitz, or an old town cafe in Fayetteville. At
the very least expect to see bucolic farms and, in spring, bluebonnets. The Central Texas Bluebonnet Council (
877-426-6763; www.texasbluebonnets.org ) keeps tabs on which areas are in full bloom. For road-tripping
tunes, we especially like FM 2161 north of Brenham. Or tune your radio to 95.9 FM's all-Texas country music,
all the time.
