Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

I-30 from Six Flags Over Texas you can get soaked at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, an
over-the-top water park with a good mix of thrills, chills and family-friendly rides. The
adventurous can surf at the Surf Rider, free-fall six stories on the Geronimo, or brave the
dubiously named Mega Wedgie (no explanation needed).
Of course, nothing beats just chilling out in the Surf Lagoon (a pool with 4ft-high
waves) or gliding on an inner tube down the Lazy River. For kids, the Hook's Lagoon
Treehouse is loads of fun. Hours vary, but the park is open daily in June and July. Days

At first Arlington may seem like a showplace for every sleeping and eating chain in
America - and it is (especially with hotels and motels). But you can find some excellent
indie restaurants and it has a surprising number of top-notch Vietnamese places.
HOTEL $$
Wingate by Wyndham

hotel has 92 large, well-appointed rooms (fridges, microwaves and large work areas)
spread over four floors. Bonuses include an indoor Jacuzzi and an outdoor pool. It's on the
trolley-bus system linking area hotels with Arlington's major attractions.
Pho Pasteur Restaurant
( 817-274-6232; 100 W Pioneer Pkwy; mains $5-10; 9am-9:30pm) A real find southwest of the sta-
diums and parks, this Vietnamese restaurant specializes in pho, the iconic beef soup.
