Dallas will forever be known as the city where JFK was shot, and the sites associated
with his death are among Dallas' most visited attractions. Most travelers make pilgrim-
ages to the museums and monuments; others congregate at Dealey Plaza, eager to swap
conspiracy theories. JFK sites lie near the DART Rail West End station.

( www.jfk.org ; Book Depository, 411 Elm St; adult/child $16/13; 10am-6pm Tue-Sun, noon-6pm Mon; light rail
West End) No city wants the distinction of being the site of a presidential assassination - es-
pecially if that president happens to be John F Kennedy. But rather than downplay the
events that sent the city reeling in 1963, Dallas gives visitors a unique opportunity to
delve into the shooting in this fascinating and memorable museum, located in the former
Book Depository.
And while any museum dedicated to the subject could have reconstructed the historical
event using footage, audio clips and eyewitness accounts, this museum offers you a
goosebump-raising view through the exact window from which Lee Harvey Oswald fired
upon the motorcade. (If that last statement raises your hackles, not to worry: the displays
don't shy away from conspiracy theories either.)
The museum also offers an interesting self-guided Cell Phone Walking Tour (one hour;
with/without museum admission $2.50/5) of Dealey Plaza and other JFK assassination
sites.
