In-Depth Information
Main St runs roughly north-south through the center of town. At the southern edge of
downtown, Cypress St heads east-west, continuing as Hwy 16 at the eastern end of town.
From Kerrville, the most direct route is Hwy 173 (Bandera Hwy). The more pleasant and
scenic way - through hill and dale and past Medina - is to take Hwy 16 south.

Boerne
POP 10,884
Twenty-three miles east of Bandera on Hwy 46 is the bustling little center of Boerne (pro-
nounced 'Bernie'), settled by German immigrants in 1849. The town, which clings
strongly to its German roots, is less overrun with tourists than Fredericksburg and is a
pleasant place to spend a few hours.
The Boerne Convention & Visitors Bureau ( 830-249-7277; www.visitboerne.org ; 1407 S Main St;
9am-5pm Mon-Fri, to noon Sat) has tons of information about the town and surrounding area.
Main St seems to focus on antique stores; most stock a handy leaflet that will help you
navigate the plethora of shops.
