Conchita's Mexican Cafe
( 830-895-7708; 810 Main St; mains $8-11; 11am-3pm Mon-Fri, from 10am Sat & Sun) Located in an
unassuming storefront on Main St, Conchita's doesn't look like much, but the inventive
dishes such as Mexican eggrolls really stand out from typical Mexican fare.

Classics Burgers & 'Moore'
( 830-257-8866; 448 Sidney Baker St; mains $7-11; 11am-3pm & 5-8pm Mon-Fri, 11am-3pm Sat) This bur-
ger joint does have sort of a classic quality to it, and its burgers and fries blow the fast-
food-chain burgers out of the water.

Grape Juice
( 830-792-9463; www.grapejuiceonline.com ; 623 Water St; mains $10-15; 11am-11pm Tue-Sat) For us, it
was love at first sight - the sight being a little menu item called the Honey Badger that's a
ridiculously wonderful combination of 'crack'-aroni and cheese surrounded by a moat of
chili with Fritos on top. It's a somewhat undiginified dish considering the lovely wine-bar
atmosphere, which is exactly what we love about it.

La Four's Seafood Restaurant
( 830-896-1449; 1705 Junction Hwy; mains $12-22; 11am-2pm & 4-9pm Tue-Sat, 11am-2:30pm Sun) Head
to this riverside spot that looks like a big tin shed for excellent fried shrimp and Cajun-in-
fluenced fare such as frogs legs and spicy jalapeƱo hush puppies.

Rails Cafe at the Depot
( 830-257-3877; www.railscafe.com ; 615 E Schreiner; meals $9-19; 11am-9pm Mon-Sat) This cute cafe
in the old train depot is awfully pleasant. Make a lunch of panini or salad, or splurge a bit
with the osso bucco or beef tenderloin.
AMERICAN $$
Francisco's
( 830-257-2995; www.franciscos-restaurant.com ; 201 Earl Garrett St; lunch $7-10, dinner $13-38; 11am-3pm
Mon-Wed, 11am-3pm & 5:30-9pm Thu-Sat) Colorful, bright and airy, this bistro and sidewalk cafe is
housed in an old limestone building in the historic district. It's packed at lunch, and is one
of the swankiest places in town for a weekend dinner.
