When the weather finally cools down in October, it's festival season around the state.

. Although Big Tex, the 50ft-
tall cowboy that welcomed fair-goers from 1952 burnt down in 2012, there's still North
America's largest Ferris wheel, a midway full of carnival rides, livestock and other animal
shows - plus all those crazy fair foods to try. The corny dog debuted here, as did fried but-
ter. Our favorite? Deep-fried Oreos.
