away joint near the Pearl development a medal for outstanding service in a dive bar. Don't
get us wrong, it's one of the classiest dives you'll ever visit, where hipsters and old-timers
chug longnecks side by side in a two-story Victorian that serves as the oldest Veterans of
Foreign Wars post in Texas.

come by in San Antonio, but this is where you head for a creative, handcrafted cocktail.
Vintage wallpaper and wingback chairs give the place a dark, Victorian-esque decor,
where you can sip your Boulvardier or Widow's Kiss in a fittingly dignified atmosphere.

ago, Teddy Roosevelt recruited Rough Riders from this bar that, incidentally, was a rep-
lica of the House of Lords Pub in London. To complete the image, picture a mounted
moose head, scant lighting and lots of wood. There probably won't be a local in sight, but
the history alone makes it a worthwhile stop.
