nice little secret. Located in a strip mall near the McNay Art Museum, it would be easy to
overlook, but the inside has the feel of a Mexican mercado , with colorful handicrafts right
down to the painted furniture. Plus, the food seems a little lighter than most and doesn't
leave you wanting a siesta.
Taco Cabana

chain is beloved across the state for its excellent (and cheap!) breakfast tacos, fajitas and
burritos, and this is the location where it all began. It's a welcome sight when you're look-
ing for food in the early hours of the morning.

original location, but it keeps the tradition alive with photos and memorabilia from the
original. More importantly, the homestyle meals (most less than $10) are deliciously satis-
fying, with breakfast staples served all day.

the ambience, the neon sign shaped like an enormous pig…it's hard to say what we love
most about this place, which has been around since the 1920s. After the Pig Stand chain
closed, Mary Ann, a long-term employee, brought this location back to life for San Anto-
nians to enjoy in all its porcine glory.
