MUSEUM
( 210-824-5368; www.mcnayart.org ; 6000 N New Braunfels Ave; adult/12 and under $10/free, extra for special ex-
hibits; 10am-4pm Tue, Wed & Fri, to 9pm Thu, to 5pm Sat, noon-5pm Sun, grounds 7am-6pm daily) Upon her
death in 1950, Marion Koogler McNay left her impressive collection of European and
American modern art to the city. It has since been supplemented with more works and the
collection is now among the best in the Southwest.
In addition to seeing paintings by household names such as Van Gogh, Picasso, Ma-
tisse, Renoir, O'Keeffe and Cézanne, half the fun is wandering the spectacular Spanish
Colonial revival-style mansion that was the private residence of Marion Koogler McNay.
The Stieren Center for Exhibitions was added in June 2008 and, while it doesn't integ-
rate seamlessly with the original mansion (the center describes itself as a 'translucent,
two-story box'), it does add 45,000 sq ft of exhibition space for temporary shows.

ing hour from 5-10pm depending on date) A curious combination of marine mammals and roller
coasters, SeaWorld San Antonio is home to both Shamu the killer whale and Great White,
an inverted 'heels-over-head' roller coaster. Animal feedings and shows take place at
scheduled times, so plan your day to make sure you don't miss out.
Numerous opportunities arise to get wet - which is a welcome relief during the hot
summer months - including the Shamu show, three different water rides and the Lost La-
goon Waterpark, all included in your admission.
Check the website for behind-the-scenes tours; parking is $17.
