33-acre garden complex showcases native Texas flora. There are also a fragrance garden
and a wonderful conservatory, with a bit of everything from equatorial rainforest to alpine
flowers and a tropical lagoon. Call or go online for a calendar of special events - from
concerts under the stars and bonsai workshops to summer classes for children.
The strolling garden was designed and created by a 26th-generation gardener and one
of Japan's living national treasures from the island of Kyūshū (specifically the city of
Kumamoto), which is also home to one of Japan's most revered traditional gardens,
Suizenji Park. A few of that famous garden's elements appear here.

that this lovely, tranquil place was just a clever way to hide a hole in the ground. What
started out as an eyesore of a quarry nearly 100 years ago was transformed into a
Japanese-style strolling garden, with stone bridges, floral displays and a 60ft waterfall.
The garden is meant to be enjoyed year-round, but it's especially pretty in spring when
the flowers are in bloom.
