Every city should have a beautiful old historic hotel made out of native stone, preferably
built in the late 1800s by a wealthy cattle baron. No generic hotel decor here; this place is
pure Texas, from the leather couches to the mounted longhorn head on the wall. (Not to
worry: the elegant rooms are taxidermy-free.)
A bit of trivia? LBJ and Lady Bird had their first date here. Valet parking is a lofty $28
per night.

ceedingly well located. It's smack dab in the middle of town and just steps away from the
ever-popular Shady Grove Restaurant. Your RV never had it so good.

Just 2.5 miles from downtown, this 47-bed hostel is located on a
shady street right on the shore of Lady Bird Lake. Two-story views of the water from the
sunny great room - complete with fish tank, guitar and comfy couches - might make even
nonhostelers consider a stay.
The facilities are clean, tidy and cheerful. And with 24-hour access you can enjoy it at
your leisure - although they do ask that all jam sessions end by 11pm.
