Disc Golf
Disc golf is big in Austin. The popular course at Pease Park is gone for good, but great al-
ternatives abound:
Roy G Guerrero Disc Golf Course
MAP (517 S Pleasant Valley Rd) A brand-new course with 18 holes suitable for
beginners and skilled players alike.
Zilker Park Disc Golf Course A fairly easy course with two sets of nine holes, centrally located in Zilker Park ( Click
here ).
Mary Moore Searight Metropolitan Park (907 Slaughter Lane) A South Austin fave just over a mile west of I-35.
Bartholomew District Park (5201 Berkman Dr) A hilly course north of downtown near the old airport.
Cycling & Hiking
Lined with over 10 miles of trails, Lady Bird Lake is a popular spot for hiking and biking.
A trail runs most of the way along the lake's northern side, which is the south edge of
downtown Austin. You can also hike or mountain bike for almost 8 miles along the Barton
Creek Greenbelt, which can be entered near Barton Springs Pool.
If you head out to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, plan some extra time to
ride or skate the great 3.2-mile Veloway track ( www.veloway.com ; 4898 La Cross Ave; dawn-dusk)
nearby. The track runs clockwise, and no walking or running is permitted.
