Drinking
The quasi-official soft drink of Texas is iced tea - almost always served unsweetened. If
you want hot tea, specify that or you'll wind up with iced tea instead. Soft drinks are the
same as everywhere in the world, but a local favorite is Dr Pepper, invented in Waco.
Bottled drinking water is widely available, although tap water in Texas is usually fine to
drink.
The strictly enforced drinking age in Texas is 21, and it's illegal to drive with a blood-al-
cohol level over .08%. Carry a driver's license or passport as proof of age. Minors are not
allowed in bars and pubs, even to order nonalcoholic beverages.
