A DOWNHILL SLED TO DINNER
Fancy a twilight dash through the snow? Every Tuesday and Thursday evening in winter, the 4km-long Rodel-
bahn (adult/child €10.50/5.50, sled rental €8) toboggan run from Gampen to Nasserein is floodlit. Simply grab
your sled and away you go! Most ruddy-faced sledders stop to defrost over schnapps and enormous portions of
Tyrolean dumplings and pork knuckles in the warm, woody halfway hut, Rodelalm MAP GOOGLE MAP (

Drinking & Nightlife
St Anton is Austria's unrivalled après-ski king. Dancing on tables, Schlager (a broad
genre of soft pop or even folk with a sentimental edge) singalongs, Jägermeister after Jä-
germeister - it's just an average night out in St Anton, where people party as hard as they
ski. Pace yourself.

Mooserwirt

( www.mooserwirt.at ; Unterer Mooserweg 2; 3.30-8pm) One word: craaaazy. Come teatime
Mooserwirt heaves with skiers guzzling beer (the place sells around 5000L a day), dan-
cing to DJ Gerhard's Eurotrash mix and sweating in their salopettes. The first challenge
is to locate your skis, the second to use them to get back to St Anton in one piece.
Krazy Kanguruh

BAR
( www.krazykanguruh.com ; Mooserweg 19; 10am-8pm) Owned by St Anton ski legend and two-
time slalom world champion Mario Matt, this slopeside hot spot is loud, fun and jam-
packed after 5pm. One too many tequilas will indeed send you bouncing (on skis) back to
the valley.
Heustadl
MAP GOOGLE MAP
( www.heustadl.com ; Dengerstrasse 625; 9.30am-6.30am) Just north of Sennhütte, this shack is al-
ways fit to bursting with beery throngs. There's live music from 3pm to 6pm most days.
Yes, the bar stools have legs; yes, you are still sane if not sober.
