Overstrenuous activities are not recommended after a belly-
ful of superstrong Gauderbier (reputedly over 10% alcohol), brewed specially for this
shindig. As well as eating, dancing and excessive drinking, there's a historical parade and
alpine wrestling.

In winter expect room rates to be roughly a third higher than standard rates. There are
several mediocre restaurants in the village centre.

High on a hilltop, this rustic
farmhouse is perfectly located for hiking and skiing, and has warm, spacious rooms. The
farmer makes his own gentian schnapps and smokes his own ham, and you can fill up on
Zillertaler specialities like
Pressknödelsuppe
(Tyrolean dumpling soup) in the wood-
beamed restaurant. Half board costs an extra €11 per person.

rooms with plenty of pine, rag rugs and balconies affording mountain views. Guests can
wind down in the small sauna and Mrs Brindlinger lends out bikes free of charge.
