Beginners and inter-
mediates should find enough of a challenge on Lienz' 40km of pistes, which afford se-
ductive views of the rugged Dolomites. Most of the action takes place around Zettersfeld,
located slightly west of Lienz. A cable car and six lifts whizz skiers up to slopes reaching
between 1660m and 2278m. Free buses link the Lienz train station to the cable-car valley
stations.

enz, Hochstein (2057m) is a ski area popular for its groomed pistes and 2.5km floodlit to-
