Café Sissy

Kaiserin Elisabeth, unhappy wife of Emperor Franz Josef, and her pictures hang on the
walls of this popular riverside bar-cafe. You can breakfast here, lunch or dine on a Wien-
er Schnitzel and other simple fare, or simply nighthawk at the front-room bar till the mid-
night hour.

closed Sun Oct-Mar) A helpful private regional agency that rents trekking and mountain bikes
as well as Movelo electric bikes (e-bikes; from €13 to €20 per 24 hours). Internet avail-
able (€1 per 15 minutes).

telephone service until 10pm for rooms and information.
Getting There & Away
BUS
Postbus services depart from outside the train station, with hourly buses to Salzburg
(€9.90, 1½ hours) via St Gilgen (€5.10, 40 minutes). Buses to St Wolfgang (€3.90, 36
minutes) go via Strobl.
CAR
Most major roads in the Salzkammergut go to or near Bad Ischl. Hwy 158 from Salzburg
and the north-south Hwy 145 intersect just north of the town centre.
TRAIN
Hourly trains to Hallstatt (€3.80, 25 minutes) go via Steeg/Hallstätter See and continue
on to Obertraun (€5.70, 30 minutes). There are also hourly trains to Gmunden (€7.80, 40
minutes), as well as to Salzburg (€22.70, two hours) with a change at Attnang-Puchheim.
