Murau is
also famous for its Brauerei Murau, which has a museum on the processes of making
beer. Entry includes a glass of the local brew or a soft drink.
CYCLING & HIKING AROUND MURAU
Almost a dozen cycling tracks and mountain-bike trails can be accessed from Murau. The granddaddy of them
all is the 450km-long Murradweg, which follows the course of the Mur River. Trails are numbered and routes

Hiking trails also branch out from here, some from the train station and others from the Bundesstrasse around
Billa supermarket. A strenuous five-hour return hike to the Stolzalpen peak (1817m) begins at Billa. The tourist

Lercher is two places in one - a three-star Gasthof with inexpensive rooms and - still ex-
cellent value - a four-star hotel. Many of the rooms have views to the Stolzalpe, and even

serves delicious seasonal Styrian and Austrian classics (mains €12 to €18).
