Getting There & Away
A narrow-gauge train departs from St Pölten, 84km to the north, every two to three
hours. It's a slow trip (€16, 2½ hours), but the scenery is good for the last hour approach-
ing Mariazell.
Bus is the only option for further travel from Mariazell into Styria; four direct buses
run daily to/from Bruck an der Mur (€11.60, 1½ hours), with train connections to/from
Graz (€24, 2¼ hours). There is also one early-morning and one afternoon direct bus each
way daily between Vienna (Südtiroler Platz) and Mariazell (€20, three hours).

Admont-Liezen-Schladming: €12.40, 80 minutes to 1¾ hours, five to 18 daily. Change to train in Liezen.

Admont-Gesäuse: €4, 12 minutes, five to 10 daily.

Schladming-Graz: €36.40, 2½ hours, daily every two hours. Trains run via Stainach-Irdning (the main transfer
point for trains north to the Hallstätter See and elsewhere in the Salzkammergut) and Liezen (the transfer point
for buses to Admont and the Gesäuse).
