Getting There & Away
Regional buses depart from the Hauptbahnhof; city buses leave from outside the Haupt-
bahnhof to the north.
Steyr is on the B115, the road branching from the A1 and running south to Leoben.
There's free car parking at the Hauptbahnhof.
Some trains from Linz (€10, 50 minutes, hourly) require a change at St Valentin; there
are fewer services on Sundays. Trains continue south into Styria. Most trains for Wels
(€13.60, 1¼ hours, hourly) also require a change in St Valentin.

Bad Hall

A sleepy spa town 18km west of Steyr, Bad Hall's big draw is the new
Mediterrana Therme

. The
iodine-rich waters that gush from its thermal springs are hailed for their therapeutic prop-
erties. Outside there are massage jets and mountain views, while inside an iodine steam
room, a columned Roman bath and whirlpools pummel you into a blissfully relaxed state.
A splash pool keeps tots amused.
After drifting (or possibly dropping) off in the spa, a walk in the sculpture-dotted
Kur-
park
( dawn-dusk)
opposite is invigorating. Kids love to bash away at the
Klangskulp-
turen,
larger-than-life musical instruments that include a glockenspiel and wind harp. To
inhale the iodized salt for free, head for the central pavilion, where 1000L of the stuff fil-
ters through twig walls every hour.
Several family-run farmhouses and guesthouses offer rooms for around €15 to €20 per
