The academy had to be completely rebuilt after WWII, and its real highlight is
St-
Georgs-Kathedrale
( 10am-5pm)
, with a fine late-Gothic interior. Maximilian I, who was
born in the castle, is buried under the altar. The eastern wall of the church is packed with
heraldic coats of arms dating from 1453 and was the only part of the building to survive
WWII unscathed. The relief depicts a genealogy of Austrian rulers. Only 19 of the her-
aldic arms are real - the rest were invented by Peter von Pusica, the artisan who created
it. Entry to the church is on the south side (register with the guard).
Wasserturm

Just south of the Militärakademie, rising between the convergence of two busy
roads, is the town's water tower from 1910. Its shape intentionally apes the gilded goblet
donated to the townsfolk by King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary after he took the town
in 1487. It's still in operation today, so for reasons of hygiene you can't enter.

Hauptplatz, these family-run digs offer a variety of rooms, some with views of the main
square. Room sizes and levels of modernity differ throughout, some have little half-baths,
