Arena
( www.arena.co.at ; 03, Baumgasse 80; Erdberg, Gasometer) A former slaughterhouse turned music
and film venue, Arena is one of the city's quirkier places to see live acts. Hard rock, rock,
metal, reggae and soul (along with cinema) can be seen on its outdoor stage from May to
September; over winter bands are presented in one of its two indoor halls.

scene for over 30 years. The music covers the whole jazz spectrum, and the brick venue
features a grand mixture of both international and local acts.
Cinemas
Vienna has a fine mix of cinemas featuring Hollywood blockbusters and art-house films
in both German and English. Falter ( Click here ) , City and Der Standard (daily newspa-
pers) all contain film listings. Monday is Kinomontag , when many seats are discounted.
Expect to pay about €8 to €12 for tickets.
Schikaneder

bar of the same name, Schikaneder is the darling of Vienna's alternative-cinema scene.
The film subject range is quite broad but also highly selective, and art house through and
through.

six small cinemas in the heart of the Innere Stadt. It only shows English-language films,
of the Hollywood blockbuster variety, often in original English without subtitles.
