CONCERT VENUE
VIENNA BOYS' CHOIR
As with Manner Schnitten, Stephansdom, Lipizzaner stallions and sausage stands, Vienna wouldn't be Vienna
without the Vienna Boys' Choir (Wiener Sängerknaben; www.wienersaengerknaben.at ) . Founded over five
centuries ago by Maximilian I as the imperial choir, its members over the ages have included famed composers
Schubert and Gallus and conductors Richter and Krauss; Mozart composed for them in his day; Haydn was a
member of another local choir, but he occasionally stepped in to sing with them. Today, it's the most famous
boys' choir in the world. It now consists of four separate choirs - hand selected each year and mainly Austrian -
who share the demanding global tour schedule.
