In-Depth Information
Wolf Creek
Located 25 miles north of Pagosa Springs on US 160, this (really rich) family-owned ski area is one of Col-
orado's last and best-kept secrets - at least for now. In recent years major development has been proposed by Red
McCombs, a founding father of Clear Channel Communications whose name often pops up on Forbes list of richest
Americans. But for now it's still mostly a locals' place that isn't overrun with the out-of-state crowd and covered with
high-end boutiques, and it can be an awesome place to ride with waist-high powder after a big storm. Seven lifts service
70 trails, from wide-open bowls to steep tree glades.
