Accommodations
Colorado provides a vast array of accommodation options: from pitching a tent under a starlit sky and budget motels to
midrange B&Bs, adobe inns and historical hotels to four-star lodgings, luxurious spas and dude ranches. The most com-
fortable accommodations for the lowest price are usually found in that great American invention, the roadside motel.
SLEEPING PRICE RANGES
Price indicators relate to the price for a double room. Unless otherwise noted, breakfast is not included, bathrooms
are private and lodging is open year-round. Rates generally don't include taxes, which can vary considerably
between towns.
Prices displayed generally relate to peak-season charges; these can drop markedly out of season.

B&Bs
Many B&Bs are high-end romantic retreats in restored historic homes run by personable, independent innkeepers who
serve gourmet breakfasts. These B&Bs often take pains to evoke a theme - Victorian, rustic and so on - and amenities
range from merely comfortable to hopelessly indulgent. Rates start around $120, and the best run to more than $300.
Many B&Bs have minimum-stay requirements, and some exclude young children.
European-style B&Bs can be found in Colorado: these may be rooms in someone's home, with plainer furnishings,
simpler breakfasts, shared bathrooms and cheaper rates. They often welcome families.
B&Bs can close out of season and reservations are essential, especially for high-end places. To avoid surprises, always
ask whether bathrooms are shared or private.
Camping
Camping is the cheapest, and in many ways the most enjoyable, approach to a vacation. Visitors with a car and a tent can
take advantage of hundreds of private and public campgrounds and RV (recreational vehicle) parks at prices of $13 to $34
per night. The best resource for camping is www.recreation.gov for all reservable USFS
(United States Forest Services) campsites.
