Barr Camp

Trail, about 6.5 miles from the Pikes Peak summit, you can pitch a tent, shelter in a lean-
to or reserve a bare-bones cabin. It has drinking water and showers; dinner ($8) is avail-
able Wednesday to Sunday. Reservations are essential and must be made online in ad-
vance. It's open year-round.
Two Sisters Inn

) A longtime favorite among B&B aficionados, this place has five rooms (including the
honeymoon cottage out back) set in a rose-colored Victorian home, built in 1919 by two
sisters. It was originally a boarding house for school teachers, and has been an inn since
1990. It has a magnificent stained-glass front door and an 1896 piano in the parlor. The
inn has won awards for its breakfast recipes.

Avenue Hotel

Victorian mansion, on a hill in downtown Manitou Springs, began as a boarding house in
1886. One hundred years later, it reopened as the city's first B&B. Decorated in warm col-
ors, the seven rooms, reached via a fantastic three-floor, open turned staircase, have claw-
foot tubs, lush fabrics and canopied wrought-iron beds.
Families should ask about the bigger Carriage House, which has a private kitchen.

Cliff House at Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak, the Cliff House offers the discriminating traveler a Victorian boutique experi-
ence in charming Manitou Springs. It started as a 20-room boarding house and stagecoach
stop in 1844. Today it's a luxurious country inn with an old-fashioned vibe and fabulous
mountain views.
