Elegant and inventive, this is contemporary American at its best, like whole plates of stun-
ning heirloom tomatoes in season, house-made mozzarella and lobster mac and cheese.
Artful mains change with the seasons and are paired with an excellent wine list. Servers
know their stuff and can highlight regional wines, many of which are sustainable and bio-
dynamic. Tuesday is farm-to-patio night.
At lunch, uptown versions of classic sandwiches dominate the menu for around $10.

Kannah's Broken Oar is probably the best IPA on the Western Slope, and the
Black Bridge Stout - an Irish-style dry stout with lots of depth - isn't fooling around
either. Students from Mesa State, beer-lovers and mountain bikers pack this place to drink
and eat off the menu of calzone and brick-oven pizza in creative combos.

Though locals like it more for the beer than the food, Rockslide has a huge patio and is an
amiable gathering place on summer weekends.

hosts art-house films, live comedy shows and live music. It might be the only stage in the
