Rafting
Like much of southwest Colorado, Montrose makes a great base for river rafting. The
Gunnison Gorge, downstream from the Black Canyon, is a popular spot, with rapids ran-
ging from Class II to IV. Several regional companies can get you out on the water, as well
as Montrose outfitter Toads Guide Shop.
Skateboarding
Montrose Skate Park

Skate Park, 15,000 sq ft of concrete action judged one of the best in the USA by Thrasher
Magazine .

For the most part Montrose's sleeping options are dominated by the big motel chains, but
there are a couple of terrific B&Bs and a few places to pitch a tent or hook up an RV.
There are several camping areas around Montrose run by the Bureau of Land Manage-
ment and the National Park Service; ask at the Montrose Chamber of Commerce & Tour-
ism for more information.

) East Main St heading into Montrose is lined with chain motels. This is one
of the few independents, offering good lodgings at a reasonable price and very welcoming
