find, this modern teahouse run by an ex-monk serves organic Chinese and Japanese teas
bought direct from farmers. Chocolate-lovers shouldn't miss the $5 sipping cups: on offer
is Thomas Jefferson's recipe for hot chocolate and a delicious ancho chili cocoa aptly
nicknamed 'high as a kite.'
Steamworks Brewing

11am-2am Fri-Sun) Industrial meets ski lodge at this popular microbrewery, with high sloping
rafters and metal pipes. It has a large bar area, as well as a separate dining room with a
Cajun-influenced menu. At night there are DJs and live music.
Durango Brewing Co
( 970-247-3396; www.durangobrewing.com ; 3000 Main Ave; tap room 9am-5pm) While the ambience
is nothing special, serious beer fans can appreciate that this place concentrates on the
brews. There are taproom tastings and it's open seven days a week.

Strater Hotel, this elegant old-time bar has waitresses flashing Victorian-era fishnets and
live ragtime that packs in out-of-town visitors with standing room only at happy hour
(4pm to 6pm). The food isn't an attraction. Also in the Strater, The Office Spiritorium
serves cocktails in an upscale and much more low-key atmosphere.
