Bon Ton Restaurant
( 970-325-4951; www.stelmohotel.com ; 426 Main St; mains $15-38; 5:30-11pm Thu-Mon; ) Bon Ton
has been serving supper for a century in a beautiful room under the historic St Elmo
Hotel. The French-Italian menu includes specialties like roast duck in cherry peppercorn
sauce and tortellini with bacon and shallots. The wine list is extensive and the champagne
brunch comes recommended.

Silver Eagle Saloon
(617 Main St; 2pm-2am) With an 1886 barback and Wild West attitude to spare, this smoky
saloon is a favorite of locals. Unless you're smoking (it's grandfathered in to tobacco sale
sites), the only thing to do is drink. No food is served but bartenders display an expert
pour. It boasts the only pool table in town, though it will take gumption to play.

Ouray Brewery
( 970-325-7388; www.ouraybrewery.com ; 607 Main St; 11am-9pm) With a rooftop deck to spy on
Main Street or chairlift bar stools, this pub is something of a flytrap for visitors; in fact,
there is a notable lack of locals around. The brewery offers a brew sample tray and growl-
ers to go.
